Passenger Transportation Services Planning
Passenger Transportation services planning is a coordinated effort between public and private transportation providers and human service agencies.

The Southwest Wisconsin Transit Team (SWTT) was formed in 2006 to begin exploring ways to collaborate, improve existing transportation services, and take a regional approach to the provision of transportation services for area residents. BACKGROUND
On August 10, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users. SAFETEA-LU authorizes the federal surface transportation programs for highways, highway safety, and transit for the 5-year period 2005-2009.  At the federal and state levels, coordination of transit services seeks to provide the basis for efficient and effective resource allocation for operations, maintenance, and service development.  To comply with SAFETEA-LU’s new transportation services planning requirements, WisDOT's ‘Toolkit’ used the Framework For Action to help counties develop their plans. In Southwestern Wisconsin, a regional process was developed by an informal work group. In September 2006 the group approved the Southwestern Wisconsin Transit Services Plans.
